About the Position:

The Division of Administration and Finance provides services and support to over 45,000 diverse students, faculty, and staff at Cal State Fullerton. It is the mission of the Division to provide customer- focused support and steward our physical and financial resources in order to fulfill the university’s mission and support student success. As part of the Division, the Cal State Fullerton University Police Department (CSUF PD) provides contemporary law enforcement safety services including patrol, public safety, traffic, investigations, community engagement, crime prevention, security services, emergency management, and business continuity. We seek an exceptional individual to join our team as the Administrative Financial Analyst (Administrative Analyst/Specialist Non-Exempt). Under the general supervision of the Administrative Police Services Manager, the Administrative Financial Analyst works independently applying perform the full range of work related to program and policy research, analysis, development, evaluation, and operational and fiscal analysis related to the administrative finance specialty. Work requires applying a theoretical knowledge base to develop recommendations and conclusions. Responsible for financial analysis, planning, and fund management; budget analysis; accounting and administration for Cal State Fullerton University Police Department. The Administrative Financial Analyst is an individual contributor responsible for performance of the full range of administrative fiscal support, including but not limited to payroll, procurement, collections, receivables, cashiering, payables, revenue/expenditure analysis, budget projections, and related financial reports.

Adequate performance at this level requires thorough knowledge of police department fiscal and payroll policies and procedures. Maintain various funds and revenue sources to ensure compliance with California State University (CSU) accounting practices, policies, and regulatory requirements. May serve as project lead pertaining to the implementation and installation of department software, and other projects related to the Administrative Financial Analyst role and responsibilities.

The Administrative Financial Analyst shall represent Cal State Fullerton University Police Department and Cal State Fullerton by providing exceptional customer service while supporting a safe, inclusive and welcoming university for Titans to thrive. As a member of the Cal State Fullerton University Police Department, supports efforts in promoting an inclusive environment and will contribute towards ensuring diversity, equity, and inclusion are incorporated in department operations, programs, and services. Will regularly interact with other university departments and outside agencies for the completion of tasks, projects, as well as serve on various assigned committees. Performs other duties as assigned.

Essential Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university and/or the equivalent training and administrative work experience involving the study, analysis, evaluation, development or improvement of administrative policies, procedures, practices or programs. Working knowledge of the general practices, program or administrative specialty. Basic knowledge of and the ability to apply fundamental concepts. Working knowledge of budget policies and procedures. Ability to learn, interpret, and apply a wide variety of policies and procedures relating to and impacting the applicable program, organizational unit or administrative specialty. Knowledge of and the ability to apply basic methods and procedures used for research and statistical analysis. Ability to analyze data and make accurate projections using business mathematics and basic statistical techniques. Ability to make independent decisions, exercise sound judgment, handle multiple priorities, and organize and plan work assignments. Ability to compile, write, and present reports related to program or administrative specialty. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.

CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to complete the background check satisfactorily may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university and/or the equivalent training and administrative financial work experience. Experience working in a university police department of similar complexity and size. Demonstrated proficiency in PeopleSoft Business Intelligence, Finance and Human Resource System functionality and Microsoft Office suite.
