Position Information

The Equity Analyst is a new position in the Human Resources Department. This position will develop, implement, and monitor the city’s diversity, equity, belonging, and inclusion (DEBI) programs and strategy to attract, hire, and maintain a diverse workplace. As a strategic business partner, the Equity Analyst will harness synergy to support DEBI, ensure compliance with regulations, and promote best practices. The Equity Analyst will develop and deliver training and provide policy updates. Through effective interpersonal relationships, the Equity Analyst will be an empathetically agile listener who cultivates a safe space where employees are appreciated and valued. This position will report to the Director of Human Resources.

The Equity Analyst will be a data-informed, proactive communicator with strong analytical skills to identify trends and recommend sound solutions to support an equitable and inclusive work environment. The successful candidate will lead with integrity, credibility, and emotional intelligence as a skilled problem solver who is committed to effectively navigate adversity with resilience and tenacity. This position will work closely with executive and senior leadership to identify and develop diverse talent pipelines for key and hard to fill positions to ensure succession planning efforts effectively support DEBI. As a skilled advisor, the Equity Analyst will be open to have courageous conversations and challenge assumptions to achieve desired outcomes that align with one-city.

Qualifications

Education and Experience Guidelines
Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

Education/Training:
  • A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in public administration, business administration, or a related field that pertains to the scope of work.

Experience:
  • Four years of progressively responsible professional experience in public administration, project/program management, or business performing a variety of analytical functions.

License or Certificate:
  • California Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record maintained throughout employment.

The examination process will consist of:
  • Review of applications for minimum qualifications for the position and to ensure all materials have been submitted.
  • Panel Interview - Applicants possessing desired qualifications and experience will be invited to participate in a panel interview, tentatively scheduled for the October 10, 2024.
All applicants that pass the examination process will be placed on the eligible list which is good for at least 6 months and may be extended up to an additional 18 months. This eligible list will be used by the City of Brentwood to fill all current and future openings in this classification as long as the list is active.
