Position Information

The City of Brentwood is currently recruiting for the position of Fleet Supervisor in the Public Works Department. The Fleet Supervisor oversees the day-to-day operations of the Fleet Division responsible for repair of City fleet and equipment. The ideal candidate will possess Fleet Supervision and Fleet personnel experience and is knowledgeable on regulatory compliance requirements, including diesel truck and off-road requirements.

Qualifications

Education and Experience Guidelines:

Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

Education/Training:
  • Possession of an Associate of Arts degree in business administration with specialized training in fleet maintenance.

Experience:
  • Four years of experience in fleet maintenance including one year of lead responsibility.

License or Certificate:
  • Possession of a California Class A Driver's License must be maintained as a continued condition of employment.
  • Possession of Automotive Service Excellence (A.S.E) Certification as a Master Technician in either automotive or heavy truck.
  • Possession of a California Brake Lamp License prior to the completion of the probationary period.

The examination process will consist of:
  • Review of applications for minimum qualifications for the position and to ensure all materials have been submitted.
  • Panel Board Interview - Applicants possessing desired qualifications and experience will be invited to participate in a panel interview will be invited to a panel board interview tentatively scheduled for the October 2, 2024.
All applicants that pass the examination process will be placed on the eligible list which is good for at least 6 months and may be extended up to an additional 18 months. This eligible list will be used by the City of Brentwood to fill all current and future openings in this classification as long as the list is active.
