This position will be located at the Lewis and Clark State Office Building at 1101 Riverside Drive, Jefferson City, MO 65101.

  • Review applications for and draft National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System operating permits for domestic wastewater discharging facilities.
  • Gain a general working knowledge of various wastewater treatment technologies, nomenclature, and expected performance capabilities.
  • Conduct Cost Analyses for Compliance for Publicly Owned Treatment Works in accordance with state statutes using current financial information when available or other readily available resources.
  • Become proficient with and implement applicable state statutes as well as state and federal regulations regarding the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System permit requirements and processes.
  • Attend trainings and conferences to maintain technical understanding of the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System program to include the various wastewater treatment technologies utilized around the state of Missouri.
  • Conduct, in coordination with regional office team members, occasional field/site visits when necessary to gain a better understanding of a specific treatment technology.
  • Provide exceptional customer service by responding timely and professionally to inquiries from other Department team members, permittees, consultants, and the general public.

Equivalent to those typically gained by:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 0-4 years of relevant experience. Preferred degree program would include the following: Environmental Science or Technology, Chemistry, Biology, Hydrology or Water Management, Physical Science, Natural Resource Management, Soil Conservation, or a closely related field.
