About SSWD: The Sacramento Suburban Water District (SSWD), located in Sacramento, California, is a publicly owned and operated water utility formed in 2002. SSWD provides water to over 194,000 customers from 70 operational groundwater wells.
Examples of Essential Duties: Under direct supervision, the Water Conservation Representative performs a variety of functions related to educating customers about the District’s Water Conservation Ordinance and ways to conserve water.
Typical tasks include:
- Responding to specific customer complaints regarding suspected water waste, patrolling in a District vehicle to research incidents of water waste and other water misapplications.
- Enforcing the District’s current Water Conservation Stage by discussing water use restrictions with customers and using database applications to maintain/update water waste records related to the Water Conservation Program.
- Receiving and resolving complaints and questions regarding the District’s Water Conservation Ordinance.
- The Representative also provides literature, water conservation devices, and verbal instructions to customers regarding water efficient practices.
This is a temporary/seasonal position that must work at least two (2) days per week, is limited to an average of twenty (20) work hours per week, and as such is not eligible for benefits. Minimum Qualifications: Required : High school diploma or equivalent; ability to operate a computer using common office computer software programs, particularly Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
Candidates must possess a valid California Class “C” Driver’s License and have a good driving record. The successful candidate must pass a criminal background check, pre-employment physical exam, drug/alcohol screen,
and will be required to wear OSHA-approved protective footwear at all times and at their own cost. Desirable : Two to three (2-3) years of increasingly responsible work experience in performing customer service and related work, preferably including experience working with a water agency or public utility; knowledge of automated sprinkler systems.
