Supporting the Behavioral Health department and the Office of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion, the Business Officer will oversee and manage financial, human resources, events coordination, and administrative tasks. In close collaboration with the leadership of each division, the Business Officer will support the development of operational strategies, plans, and procedures. Additionally, the Business Officer will organize and manage meetings, special events, office operations, and program spaces like the Refinery. This new role is a pivotal addition to our divisions, perfect for a flexible, passionate go-getter who enjoys taking on new challenges and harmonizes with the missions of these divisions!

A day in the life of the Business Officer may include:
  • Contract administration to include monitoring of contracted services budgets, monitoring internal programs, grants and external agencies to ensure compliance with regulations and contract requirements, budget development, management and forecasting, procurement including p-card management, accounts payable and receivables, and financial and contract/grant reporting
  • Compiling budget information and documents for annual Budget and Business Plan presentations to the County Manager and Budget Offices
  • Serving as a liaison with Wake County Budget & Management Services and Wake County Finance Office to ensure optimal use of appropriated resources and compliance with budgetary policies and procedures
  • Working with division leadership and staff to organize, coordinate and manage events and meetings
  • Providing administrative support to division leadership and program staff which may include calendar management, communication and office management, and supporting programmatic spaces
  • Human resources support, coordinating recruitment logistics, ensuring policies and procedures are followed and critical information is entered and maintained for new and existing employees

This position will have two offices and will alternate between them during the week.

The Basics (Required Education and Experience)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Finance, Accounting or related field
  • Three years of experience in finance, budgeting, policy or management analysis
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience will be accepted


Beyond the Basics (Preferred Education and Experience)

  • Professional experience providing comprehensive business operations management including financial and administrative support for two or more departments or divisions
  • Experience managing and ensuring compliance for multiple contracts and grants, including budget, expenditures and ensuring programmatic compliance with stated requirements
  • Experience coordinating and managing events and meetings
  • Formal education and training in Accounting, Business Management, and/or Public Administration

Hiring Range: $66,270 - $89,467
