The Civil Rights Outreach, Intake, and Case Management Specialist will be responsible for day-to-day management and response to reports of discrimination, harassment, sexual misconduct, sexual exploitation, dating violence, domestic violence, stalking, and retaliation. Specific duties include outreach and follow-up communication with parties; conducting intake meetings with complainants, respondents, and witnesses; collaborating with various campus departments to facilitate, implement, and document supportive measures; and providing ongoing case management support for individuals harmed by discrimination, harassment, sexual misconduct, sexual exploitation, dating violence, domestic violence, stalking, and retaliation. Other duties as assigned.

Essential Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university in a relevant discipline. A minimum of two years of full-time professional experience in Civil Rights or related work. Experience working with Maxient or other similar database for case management. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to both be impartial and project impartiality and establish rapport with a diverse range of community members. Demonstrated ability to exercise superior judgment with the ability to manage highly sensitive and confidential communications. Demonstrated commitment to serving a diverse population with cultural competence and sensitivity, as well as the ability to work with a wide range of constituencies including staff, students, faculty, administrators, and third parties with diplomacy and tact. Possession of strong organization and analytical skills. Ability to handle a significant caseload and manage multiple deadlines. Ability to build positive relationships and establish collaborative partnerships across the university.

A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to complete the background check satisfactorily may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree or doctoral degree from an accredited college or university in a relevant discipline. Completed training in Civil Rights case management and compliance. Prior case management experience in Civil Rights work or related field. Experience in mediation and/or restorative justice practices. Experience doing Civil Rights work in a higher education setting.
