    Major Duties

    Under general supervision, the Lead Radiologic Technologist prepares patients before taking radiographs. The incumbent processes the radiology orders in Point and Click, takes the ordered X-rays via CR equipment, electronically submits the filed/stored images to the consulting Radiologists for evaluation, and processes the Radiology reports for inclusion in the EHR.
    • Operate diagnostic x-ray CR equipment, to provide radiographs of diagnostic quality to the consulting radiologist(s) as ordered by the patient’s attending physician.
    • Take x-ray(s) which includes positioning, obtaining cooperation for the requested procedure, and reassuring the patient.
    • Processing of X-ray orders in Point and Click, providing radiographic studies as ordered by providers in the Klotz Student Health Center.
    • Performs required QC tests for radiographic equipment such as lead aprons checks, mA reproducibility, contrast evaluation, etc.
    • Updating and creating department policies and procedures that align with changes in accreditation standards along with state and federal regulations.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications
    • High school diploma or equivalent and successful completion of an accredited program in radiologic technology.
    • Equivalent to two or more years of radiologic experience with progressive responsibility as a certified radiologic technologist which demonstrates the knowledge and abilities to perform assigned duties; or equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge and abilities.
    • Possess and maintain a Certificate of Radiologic Technology as a certified radiologic technologist issued by the Radiologic Health Branch of the California Department of Public Health, and may also be required to possess and maintain CPR/AED certification.


    Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
    • Thorough knowledge of radiographic equipment and techniques, including digital equipment and related technologies; regional and gross anatomy and physiology of the human body; standardized radiological clinical procedures; principles of radiation protection and hazards of radiologic materials and the safety precautions required; industry standards and ethics pertaining to radiologic technology; and federal and state laws and regulations pertaining to radiology.
    • Possess a comprehensive knowledge of anatomy and the biological sciences. General knowledge of the principles of physics, electricity, and related physical sciences as applied to X-ray and other commonly used radiologic techniques, medical units or clinical procedures. Thorough Radiologic Technologist knowledge of the hazards of radiologic materials and safety precautions. Working knowledge of health center administrative processes and procedures.
    • Demonstrate a moderate to advanced level of computer and technological knowledge and skillset. Expressing competency in utilizing virtual meeting programs and online portal trainings, along with general word processing and HIS and RIS system functionality.
    • Ability to: perform general diagnostic radiographic procedures and effectively assess the quality of images taken; operate allocable diagnostic equipment including X-ray and digital imaging equipment; produce quality radiographs and images using applicable systems to manipulate and enhance images; perform simple maintenance on applicable equipment; maintain physical activity to assist patients to and from exam tables, pushing wheelchairs, and comfortable utilizing stairs; effectively use computerized systems associated with producing and manipulating digital images; maintain records and use applicable computerized systems; recognize patient emergencies and alert practitioners; file images and maintain MIMPS correctly; compile reports; read and write at a level appropriate to the position and follow oral and written directions; maintain patient confidentiality in compliance with applicable federal and state laws and regulations; maintain effective working relationships with practitioners and other health center support staff; and be sensitive to and communicate effectively with diverse patients in offering optimal patient care.
    • Ability to: perform unusual or specialized diagnostic radiographic procedures of all body structures with high-quality results; establish and maintain appropriate safety standards; plan, organize, schedule, and implement departmental procedures and activities; provide lead work direction; represent the department at administrative meetings; and recommend new or revised departmental procedures in order to increase the effectiveness of the operation; advocate for patient safety and work alongside other departments on campus with regard to state and federal radiation equipment regulations.


    Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule

    • Classification: Radiology Technologist II / 7996 / 1
    • The anticipated HIRING RANGE: $4491 - $6500 per month, dependent upon qualifications and experience. The salary range for this classification is: $4491 - $8669 per month.
    • HOURS: Full Time; 40 hours per week; Monday through Friday.
    • This is a Regular position with a one-year probationary period.
    • The individual hired for this role will physically work on-campus in Northridge. This is not a telecommute position.
