Position Summary This position, under the direction of the Director of the Asian Pacific Islander Desi American (APIDA) Center, provides support and leadership for the APIDA Center. The APIDA Center Assistant Coordinator supports the operational needs of the Center and assists with practices and programs aimed at improving student outreach and yield, academic success, leadership and professional development, graduation and retention, inclusion and belonging, and more. The APIDA Center Assistant Coordinator will be a member of a team that strives to enhance the overall student experience, particularly for APIDA students. Duties include but are not limited to advising, mentoring, developing and implementing programs, coordinating event calendars, marketing and outreach, responding to sensitive equity, crisis, and individualized issues, and more. This position will serve as a resource to students, faculty, and staff.
This is a full-time (1.0 time-base), benefits eligible, temporary position anticipated to end on June 30, 2025 with the possibility of reappointment. This position is designated as non-exempt under FLSA and is eligible for overtime compensation. Standard SDSU work hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs.
The individual hired into this role will work on campus at SDSU in San Diego.

Education and Experience Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in one of the behavioral sciences, public or business administration, or a job-related field. Specialized experience during which the applicant has acquired and successfully applied the knowledge and abilities shown below may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
Key Qualifications - Working knowledge of the basic principles of individual and group behavior; research and observation techniques for the purpose of recording, classifying, and interpreting factual information; and the techniques and methods of interviewing.
- Ability to gather and analyze data; reason logically, draw valid conclusions and make appropriate recommendations; participate in and contribute to group meetings, conferences and interviews; clearly express ideas and recommendations orally; write clear and concise reports; and establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, staff and faculty.
Compensation and Benefits Starting salary upon appointment is not expected to exceed $3,952 per month. Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department’s fiscal resources.
