Deputy Director of Parks and Recreation

Located in the heart of Silicon Valley, Santa Clara County has a rich history that spans from its

agricultural roots to its current position as a global hub of innovation and technology. The County is seeking a Deputy Director of Parks & Recreation to provide leadership in the management of the park planning, real estate, natural resource management, GIS, Countywide Regional Trails, and construction services programs.

The ideal candidate will have experience planning, developing, and stewarding regional parklands as an equitable and welcoming environment for all park visitors and possess the ability to balance compatible equitable access with natural, cultural, and historic preservation and protection.

A BA in Parks & Recreation Admin, Landscape Architecture, Natural Resources Management, Public or Business Admin, or a related field, 4 yrs progressively responsible administrative/management experience in a significant parks and recreation department within a large comparable agency, and 2 yrs of supervisory experience is required.

The annual salary range is up to $238,773 DOQ.  The City offers an outstanding benefit package that includes CalPERS 2.5% @ 55 for Classic Members, retiree health insurance after 15 years of service, generous contributions to medical, dental, & vision insurance, and outstanding leave benefits.
