Job Description

Broward County is seeking an innovative leader to serve as Chief Infrastructure Officer. The Chief Infrastructure Officer (CIO) provides leadership and direction for the Transportation Department's Capital Program Division. Responsibilities include executive oversight, operational management, financial performance, strategic planning, employee development, safety promotion, customer advocacy, and coordination of assigned division activities. This is an executive leadership position. The incumbent will advise the Transportation Director on strategy, issues, and resolutions. The CIO will review and analyze policies, procedures and practices and work with key stakeholders for recommendations/assistance. The CIO will be well versed in industry standards and stay abreast of current best practices. Customer service is paramount and special focus must be placed on KPI trends and response. It is critical that the CIO develop productive, collaborative relationships with Broward County leaders, Transportation Department leaders, Union representatives, employees, customers, and the community. The CIO must manage in a manner that ensures Broward County Transportation is viewed favorably by customers and employees.

Job Requirements

The successful candidate will hold a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in safety systems management, finance, business or public administration, engineering, organizational dynamics, consumer behavior, technology, or closely related field and six (6) years progressively responsible experience in administration and management of one of the following areas:  public transit, transportation, hospitality, consumer, technology, heavy-infrastructure, logistics or closely related experience. One year of relevant experience may be substituted for each year of required education. Preference will be given to candidates with a current Professional Engineer certification, master’s degree, 10+ years of senior level project management experience, engineering and/or construction and contract management, 10+ years managing rail transit assets or similar asset types where reliability of assets is critical to the organization’s mission, or 10+ years in a leadership position managing bargaining unit employees.

Special Instructions

The salary range for this position will be $151,234 to $241,371. In addition, Broward County provides a comprehensive benefits package which includes participation in the Florida Retirement System, a deferred compensation plan, flexible spending accounts, health savings accounts, paid time off, holidays, insurance coverage, and more!
