We are currently seeking experienced candidates for the position of Financial Reporting Manager. The CSU Chancellor's Office, located on the waterfront adjacent to the Aquarium of the Pacific in downtown Long Beach, is the headquarters for the nation's largest and most diverse system of higher education. The CSU Chancellor's Office offers a premium benefit package that includes outstanding vacation, health, and dental plans; a fee waiver education program; membership in the California Public Employees Retirement System (PERS); and 15 paid holidays a year.
Salary
The anticipated salary hiring range is up to $9,834 per month, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
The salary range for this classification is $4,812 to $15,449 per month.

Position Information
The Financial Reporting Manager oversees financial reporting for 23 campuses, Chancellor's Office, and 90 component units.
This position is approved for telecommuting (two days telecommuting, three days in office (in-person)) with onsite work at the main headquarters located in Long Beach, California.
Responsibilities
Under the general direction of the Director, Financial Reporting, the Financial Reporting Manager will perform duties as outlined below:
Financial Statement Management
-Prepare systemwide GAAP financial statements
-Compile Single Audit Reports
-Submit federal reports (federal clearinghouse and IPEDS)
-Review auxiliary organization financial statements
Systemwide Passdown Journal Entries/Schedules
Oversee systemwide journal entries including:
-Pension obligations
-Other post-employment benefits
-Long-term debt
-State appropriations
-Investments
External Audit Coordination
-Serve as the main contact for external auditors
-Review auxiliary organization auditor qualifications
-Monitor audit progress and findings
-Oversee NCAA compliance reviews
Training and Development
-Update the CSU GAAP reporting manual
-Develop solutions for complex reporting issues
-Provide expert training and guidance
Qualifications
This position requires:
-Bachelor's degree in Accounting from a four-year institution of higher education is required, MBA preferred.
-Minimum of 5 years’ related experience in accounting, GAAP financial statement preparation/consolidation, and financial reporting and analysis.
-CPA certification is required.
-Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a supervisory role.
-Strong project management skills.
-Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
-Extensive knowledge of GAAP (GASB and FASB Standards) and familiarity with GAAS.
-Strong analytical and technical skills necessary for the performance of fluctuation, variance, projection, and trend analyses.
-Substantial and broad knowledge with business process policies and procedures (higher education industry experience preferred) needed to interpret and apply the effects of policies and rules to financial analyses and projections.
-Use of appreciable ingenuity and innovation to conceive new approaches and solutions to address complex accounting/reporting problems and issue.
-Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
-Good working knowledge of personal computers, word processing, spreadsheets, and database software.
-Solid leadership and problem-solving skills.
-Detail oriented with good organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications
-Public accounting experience is preferred.
-Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel is preferred.
-CSU experience is highly desirable.

Conflict of Interest
The duties of this position will include participation in decisions that may have a material financial benefit to the incumbent. Therefore, the selected candidate will be required to file Conflict of Interest Form 700: Statement of Economic Interest when they first occupy the position, and on an annual basis, complete ethics training within 6 months of appointment, and attend this training every other year thereafter.

California State University, Office of the Chancellor, as part of the CSU system, is a State of California Employer. As such, the University requires all employees upon date of hire to reside in the State of California. As of January 1, 2022, the CSU Out-of-State Employment Policy prohibits the hiring of employees to perform CSU-related work outside the state of California.
