Position Description:
Duties:

Screens all persons who wish to enter the Courthouse for weapons and other harmful objects, utilizing the magnetometer, hand-held metal detector, and x-ray machine.

Maintains communications with court bailiffs and other security/law enforcement personnel regarding security-related issues and emergencies.

Takes steps to control emergency situations at the entrance of the Courthouse, including summoning proper assistance.

Directs the flow of individuals entering and exiting the building in a courteous, but cautious manner, paying special attention to abnormal or unusual behaviors, and conducts searches of those entering when suspicion warrants such action.

Prepares appropriate reports of disturbances and accidents.

Other duties as assigned.

Summary:

The Court seeks an individual to assist in security screening of persons entering the Courthouse. Position responsibilities include utilizing metal detecting and x-ray equipment to search persons, and providing general security to ensure the safety of court staff and the general public.
Job Prerequisites:
Minimum Qualifications:

Qualified individuals must be 21 years of age and must possess a high school diploma and have current Ohio Peace Officers Training Academy certification, including up-to-date firearms certification. An Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice or related area of study is preferred. Experience with court and/or other physical security is also beneficial. Qualified individuals must also have the physical capability to search and/or detain individuals when necessary.

Salary: Commensurate with experience
