Job Description

Carmichael is a close-knit community with a perfect blend of urban lifestyle with a small-town atmosphere.  Among Carmichael’s attractions are the American River Parkway, a 23-mile parkway (County managed) running along the American River throughout Sacramento County; American River Bike Trail, portions of which traverse Carmichael near the community’s southern boundary; Ancil Hoffman Regional Park, spanning 396-acres featuring the Effie Yeaw Nature Center and a championship, 18-hole golf course; Carmichael Park (Carmichael Recreation and Park District’s major 38-acre park); Sutter – Jensen Park and Botanical Garden, and the La Sierra Community Center (former high school), a 36-acre facility featuring a large community hall, meeting rooms, two gymnasiums, soccer fields, and baseball complex. The Carmichael Recreation and Park District has been serving the needs of the community since it was established as a dependent special district in 1945. The District is chartered by the County of Sacramento to manage park land and provide recreation opportunities to Carmichael residents. The District encompasses approximately 9.25 square miles and serves nearly 42,000 residents who live within the District’s boundaries including Carmichael and a small portion of Fair Oaks.

 

 

CRPD is seeking a collaborative and composed team builder who is committed to developing and mentoring staff as their new District Administrator. The ideal candidate is an experienced parks and recreation professional with strong interpersonal skills who is an excellent written and verbal communicator, instills customer service values in the organization, and fosters a system of accountability and teamwork. Qualified candidates possess a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in public recreation, parks administration or a related field. A minimum of ten (10) years of increasingly responsible experience in the development, implementation and administration of public recreation and park services and programs, including a required five (5) years in a management or supervisory position. The annual salary range for the District Administrator  is $137,388 - $153,624; placement within this range is dependent on qualifications and experience.
