    Department of Mental Health at NMPRC

    3505 Frederick Ave., St. Joseph, MO 64505

    Scheduled Hours - M-F 8:00am - 4:30pm

    General Summary:

    This is a licensed professional position accountable for coordinating and managing the assessment and treatment of mental illnesses. Provides thorough behavioral health services including assessment, diagnosis, and treatment. The candidate will be required to complete both forensic assessments and clinical duties. Forensic assessments may include any of the following: Pretrial mental evaluations, competency restoration examinations, sexually violent predator evaluations, risk assessments for patients charged with a sex offense, and conditional release assessments. Develops and implements individual treatment plans that specify type, frequency, intensity, and duration of therapy. Treats and counsels clients and uses a variety of treatment methods to intervene and assist in behavior modification. Writes reports on clients, and evaluates the effectiveness of counseling or other treatments and modifies plans and diagnoses as necessary.

    Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

    In addition to those mentioned above: Knowledge of psychological assessment and measurement techniques. Ability to develop, implement, and coordinate psychological services for an assigned treatment/habilitation program.

    Minimum Required Qualifications:

    • D. or Psy.D. in Clinical, Counseling, or Forensic Psychology
    • Currently a licensed Psychologist for the State of Missouri or license eligible
    • Psychiatric Forensic experience (Substitutions may be allowed)
    • Certification as a Forensic Psychology Examiner (CFE) for the Department of Mental Health or willing to obtain certification
