  • Job Description

    The City of Weatherford's Water Utility Department is looking to hire experienced Water Plant Operators to support our water purification plant. These positions will aide in the continuous effort of providing clean drinking water to the City of Weatherford Citizens. If you think you'd be a good fit, we'd like to hear from you.

    ****This position will work the night shift; hours are as follows: 5pm-5am. This position will work alternating 3-day/4-day work weeks. Sunday-Tuesday (Wednesday) and (Wednesday)Thursday-Saturday****

    Please note the minimum requirements before applying to this position:

    Water Plant Operator I
    • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
    • One year of water treatment plant operations experience.
    • Must have a TCEQ Class D water license.
    • Must have a valid Class C Texas Driver's license.

    Water Plant Operator II
    • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
    • Two years of water treatment plant operations experience.
    • Must have a TCEQ Class C surface water license.
    • Must have a valid Class C Texas Driver's license.

    Water Plant Operator III
    • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
    • Three years of water treatment plant operations experience.
    • Must have a TCEQ Class B surface water license.
    • Must have a valid Class C Texas Driver's license.

    Water Plant Operator IV
    • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
    • Four years of wastewater plant operations experience.
    • Must have a valid Class B Texas CDL Driver’s license.
    • Must have a Class B or higher wastewater treatment operator license.


    Roles & Responsibilities include:
    • Operates various equipment to perform day-to-day functions of job duties; performs TCEQ required laboratory procedures.
    • Compiles and records data of water plant operations; makes chemical dosage adjustments and flow changes in a prompt and accurate manner.
    • Cleans and maintains water plant to include washing down tanks.
    • Performs numerous types of tests on water samples such as PH, alkalinity, chlorine, and fluoride.
    • Monitors and calibrates PH, turbidity and chlorine gauges, meters, and controls to ensure proper functioning of plant facility equipment.
    • Reads, records, and calculates daily CT’s, pounds of chemicals used and flow.
    • Performs other duties as assigned or required.


    Qualifications

    Water Plant Operator I • High School Diploma or GED equivalent. • One year of water treatment plant operations experience. • Must have a TCEQ Class D water license or the ability to obtain one within 180 days of employment. • Must have a valid Class C Texas Driver's license. Water Plant Operator II • High School Diploma or GED equivalent. • Two years of water treatment plant operations experience. • Must have a TCEQ Class C surface water license. • Must have a valid Class C Texas Driver's license. Water Plant Operator III • High School Diploma or GED equivalent. • Three years of water treatment plant operations experience. • Must have a TCEQ Class C surface water license. • Must have a valid Class C Texas Driver's license. Water Plant Operator IV • High School Diploma or GED equivalent. • Four years of wastewater plant operations experience. • Must have a valid Class B Texas CDL Driver’s license. • Must have a Class B or higher wastewater treatment operator license.

    Special Requirements

    Applications must be submitted online for consideration. Candidates who do not meet the Education requirement may be considered if they have more relevant work experience than the position requires. Candidates selected for employment will be required to pass pre-employment checks depending on the position requirements. Those pre-employment checks could include, but not limited to criminal background check, drug screen, education verification, etc. Criminal convictions will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
