Salary Range : $3,775 - $6,960/Monthly

Work Schedule : Full-Time, Monday - Thursday, 11:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m., Saturday, 9:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and Sunday, 11:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.; scheduled hours will be adjusted to meet operational needs including late evenings and weekend hours; temporary position, ends on or before one year from the date of hire; may be extended; may become permanent; non-exempt classification.

Essential Functions : The John F. Kennedy Memorial Library at Cal State LA is a 317,000 square foot facility that welcomed more than 1.65 million visitors in the past year. The library maintains a physical collection of more than 700,000 items and has a total seating capacity of over 2,200. The Operations and User Experience/Services team within the library is comprised of 11 full-time staff who oversee circulation, reserves, collection maintenance, resource sharing, and facilities. Reporting to the Director of Operations & User Experience, the Library Service Desk Evening Coordinator will ensure that Service Desk operations during the evenings run smoothly, and library patrons receive high quality customer service. The incumbent will oversee the work of User Experience student assistants scheduled to work in the evenings, working closely with the Service Desk Coordinator to make sure student employees are properly trained and supported. The incumbent will suggest data-driven changes to streamline operations and help develop and document procedures, analyze and respond to patron inquiries and complaints, and provide excellent customer service. The incumbent will be responsible for the security and safety of all library users, collections, and equipment, closing and securing the library buildings throughout the week and possibly weekends, and identifying and responding to facilities issues as appropriate. The Library Service Desk Evening Coordinator will act as a member of the Operations and User Experience/Services team and performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications & Experience : Incumbent must possess: four years of related library and/or clerical experience or an equivalent combination of experience and education; experience using circulation and fulfillment functions/modules in a Unified Library Management System (ULMS) and an understanding of library circulation operations, bibliographic and item records, and patron databases; proven experience resolving issues raised by customers and being responsible for providing a safe and secure environment for all customers; experience with standard office software (Microsoft Office and web applications) and equipment; demonstrated strong commitment to public services and improving the user experience; excellent analytical, organizational, problem solving, interpersonal, and communication skills; and the ability to balance competing priorities and improve workflows and work creatively and effectively both independently and as a member of the Operations and User Experience/Services team. Incumbent must demonstrate an interest or ability in working in a multicultural/multiethnic environment. A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position with the CSU. Desired Qualifications : Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university. Experience working in academic library. Experience working with the Alma ULMS and/or SpringShare library software. Supervisory/Lead experience.
