Department of Public Health (DPH) is recruiting for
Pre-Registered Dietitians* who plan, develop, implement, and evaluate community nutrition programs for targeted populations. Pre-Registered Dietitians work under close supervision while waiting to take the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics examination for registration as a Registered Dietitian (Registered Nutritionist). Immediate vacancies exist within the DPH, which may include positions in the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC), Nutrition Education and Obesity Prevention (NEOP), and/or Child Health and Disability Prevention (CHDP) programs. Program placement is based upon department discretion, and contingent upon organizational/staffing coverage needs.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT Travel/Driver License: Incumbent may be required to travel throughout the County to work in multiple offices within a specified region, such as the High Desert (e.g., Victorville, Barstow), Low Desert (e.g., 29 Palms, Yucca Valley), and surrounding San Bernardino areas. Employees may be required to make provision for transportation; mileage reimbursement is available.
At the time of hire, a valid California Class C driver license and proof of automobile liability insurance must be produced and maintained for the individual providing the transportation.
Background Investigation: Pre-Registered Dietitian* incumbent must pass a background investigation, including fingerprinting, and verification of employment history and education.
Trainee: Pre-Registered Dietitian* is a trainee-level classification. Pre-Registered Dietitian* must be promoted to journey-level classification ( Registered Dietitian $4,602 - $6,645 monthly ) upon successful completion of the trainee period (e.g., complete all academic and supervised practice requirements to meet eligibility requirements to apply for, take, and pass the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics examination registration examination, receipt of satisfactory work progress reports, as applicable) within 18 months of hire, or be terminated. COVD-19 Vaccination: Dependent on program assignment, some positions may require vaccination against COVID-19. Please review the vaccination requirement below.
Per the December 24, 2021 updated CA State Public Health Officer Order, all workers who provide services or work in facilities described in subdivision (a) of the order, including clinics and doctor offices, must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19. In addition, CDPH Public Health Officer Orders updated on February 22, 2022 requires all workers in health care settings currently eligible for boosters, who provide services or work in the impacted facilities must be "fully vaccinated and boosted" for COVID-19 by March 1, 2022. Workers in impacted health care facilities who are not "fully vaccinated and boosted" are required to submit to COVID-19 testing at least twice per week to meet testing requirements.

Minimum Requirements Registered Dietitian (RD) Examination Eligibility**: Applicant
must complete all academic and supervised practice requirements to meet the eligibility requirements to take the RD examination as set forth by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) , the credentialing agency for the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. (
IMPORTANT: The Authorization to Test email received from Pearson VUE, CDR's testing agency, confirming that CDR has validated your eligibility requirements and has approved you to take the RD examination,
must be submitted with the application.)

Additional compensation is associated with positions requiring the use of bilingual skills. Testing of bilingual skills may be required to receive additional compensation.
