Position Description
Economists prepare and conduct research, analysis and studies of economic, social, fiscal and other factors in relation to topic of study.
The Nevada Department of Corrections has a vacancy for an Economist 3 at the Central Administration Office/Offender Management Division, in Carson City, Nevada. This position reports directly to the Chief of OMD. Incumbent will prepare and conduct research of economic, social, industrial and/or employment factors. Incumbent will provide technical assistance to State and local officials, make presentations to community groups, produce reports, tables, and written analysis, and update information in the database. Incumbent responsible to generate formal reports to legislature, Executive, Judicial branch upon request. And other duties as assigned by the Executive branch.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in economics, labor economics, econometrics, statistics or a related field and three years of professional experience in conducting statistical/economic data collection, analysis and research involving the application of advanced statistical, mathematical and economic principles and research modeling; OR one year of experience as an Economist II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
