Position: Non Tenure-track Clinical Coordinator (SSP/AR II - 12 month)

Starting Date: January, 2023

Minimum Qualifications:
1) An earned master’s or doctoral degree in counseling, behavioral sciences, psychology or related field from an accredited university. Doctorate preferred.
2) Possession of a current California license as a Marriage and Family Therapist, Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor, or Psychologist and at least two years’ experience working in a college, university or other higher education setting.
3) Demonstrated leadership ability and developed skills in brief psychotherapy, crisis intervention, consultation, workshops/group psychotherapy, and outreach.
4) Demonstrated experience providing and coordinating the provision of individual, couples, and group counseling on an independent basis for clients of various ages.
5) Evidence of clinical leadership experience necessary for providing lead work direction and guidance in assessing and treating a broad spectrum of psychological problems, ranging from personal/social adjustment issues to severe emotional disturbances.
6) Demonstrated experience with interventions and clinical case management with complex and high-risk clients.
7) Demonstrated knowledge of laws and ethics pertaining to the field of mental health.
8) Experience working at a fast pace, handlings spontaneous work demands.
9) Ability to utilize and demonstrate professional counseling techniques and strategies to meet the needs of a student body with varied backgrounds, cultures, gender identities, ages, sexual orientations, and other diverse qualities.
10) Demonstrated experience handling multicultural, intersectional, and social justice issues and proven ability to interact with diverse individuals and groups.
11) Demonstrated interest, experience, and ability to work with and support one or more of the following student populations: Student Veterans, Student-Athletes, Foster Youth, Black and African American students and/or students who identify as LGBTQIA+.
12) Evidence of ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and demonstrate ability and interest in working in a multiethnic, multicultural environment.
13) Demonstrated experience cultivating and maintaining effective working relationships with a variety of mental health and medical staff and specialists, as well as students, administrators, faculty and staff.
14) Demonstrated ability to develop and support a positive working environment by exhibiting solution-focused, positive, cooperative, and flexible behavior.
15) Evidence of excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Duties:
The Clinical Coordinator will assist in the coordination and management of Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) clinical programming, staff development and student internships and will provide clinical and supervisory oversight as expected of a staff psychotherapist. Under the general direction of the CAPS Director, the Clinical Coordinator is responsible for: providing guidance, training and oversight of the clinical staff; onboarding new counselors; training and oversight of student trainees/interns; providing support for CARE Team meetings and referrals; and, assisting in the development and implementation of internal procedures to ensure efficient and effective counseling services. This position also assists the CAPS department in promoting the health and wellbeing of all Cal State L.A. students and the campus community. The Clinical Coordinator ensures the team provides services that are equitable, inclusive, and culturally sensitive and enhance the quality of campus life. Further, the incumbent will oversee the coordination of various CAPS projects and programs as assigned by the director.

In addition, the Clinical Coordinator will assume regular psychological counseling responsibilities that include providing a full range of clinical, consultation, and outreach services. This position will be responsible for, but not limited to, provision of the following: individual, group, and couples mental health assessment; counseling, psychotherapy, and case management; emergency assessment and crisis intervention; tele therapy; prevention education; classroom, group, organization, and department presentations, and workshops; referrals; individual, organizational and group consultation; treatment/intervention planning and follow through; timely documentation of case notes and reports in electronic health records; referrals to and consulting with other professionals on- and off-campus; participation in CAPS peer review and other activities of the SHC Continuous Quality Improvement program; attending CAPS and other departmental meetings as assigned; participation at professional trainings, workshops and/or conferences as assigned; participation in other assigned SHC and campus committees and activities; licensure maintenance; may be required to train and mentor peer educators. The Counselor will provide outreach and programming designed to support various special student groups, including Black and African American, those who identify as LGBTQIA+, Veteran and disabled students.

Salary:
Range: $7,102-$9,840/month

Initial salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
