Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm

Anticipated Hiring Range

$4,219 to $4,668 per month ($50,628 to $56,016 annually)

Salary is commensurate with experience.

Position Summary

This position performs professional accounting function independently for Federal, State, Local, Non-Profit Funded

financial aid programs; and assist in trust fund and special projects accounting as well as Legal and GAAP closing.

Position Information

  • Responsible for the complete accounting function of Financial Aid Disbursements, Federal Work-Study, various Scholarship Trust as well as Federal Direct Student Loan activities including transactions recording, preparing, analyzing and reconciling to the financial reports

Fiscal Support
  • Prepare submit timely and accurate financial statements/reports to federal, state, local, and nongovernmental agencies. Reconcile all scholarship cash receive and disbursement; Requesting and recording funds from agencies; record CPO and Wire/ACH transfers; Drawdown Revenue; Campus Work-study; Auction Sale Deposit; office supplies ordering; Student Aid Commission; Cal Grant interest payment; Tittle IV payment
  • Interpret and analyze applicable policies and recommend proper accounting procedure to meet acceptable accounting operation standards. Ensure proper transfer of funds in compliance with rules and regulations

  • Perform Scholarship, Capital Project, and Trust & Self Support funds invoicing

  • Assist in Legal and GAAP closing; Prepare PBC and GAAP entries; work with internal and external auditors

Calculate, record, and reconcile sick leave and vacation credit for ORSP staff

Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications


General knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP); office methods and procedures; statistical and mathematical presentation of data; advanced proficiency with current word processing and spreadsheet software programs, web browsers, query tools, integrated financial systems and/or other types of records management systems.


Ability to interpret and follow instructions and policy guidelines; analyze financial and statistical data and draw conclusions; utilize problem solving techniques; establish and maintain effective working relationships with others; and communicate effectively with others inside and outside the unit, including conveying technical information to non- Accountants.

Experience and Education

Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree with a major in accounting, business administration, finance or a closely related field OR a combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge and abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and equivalent to three years of progressively responsible financial

accounting experience. Preferably in administration or accounting of financial aid programs; proficiency with Microsoft

Word and Excel; provide complete and timely service to our internal and external customers; capable of

communicating to people of all level; comprehensive understanding of policies and regulations in the financial aid

program context.


Typical office environment, equipment and tasks. Work with computer terminals. May require carrying heavy material

(50 lbs.) Ability to perform under the pressures of deadlines and other demands.
