About Our Job

This is a part-time position which will work no more than 39 hours per week and is not eligible for benefits. Part-time positions may have routine or variable work schedules.

TheCity and County of Denver's Parks and Recreation Departmentis seeking qualified and reliableRecreation Instructors for Kid Watch at Carla Madison Recreation Center . Recreation Instructors for Kid Watch will assist in facilitating the overall operations of theKid Watch Child Care Facility . This childcare service is available to all members and guests of Carla Madison Recreation Center while they utilize the facility. TheRecreation Instructors for Kid Watchprovideshort-term childcare service for children ages 1 - 7. You will help implement a variety of activities which may include: sports, active games, arts and crafts, dance, drama, fitness, music, and various recreational, educational, or cultural enrichment events.

Job responsibilities:
  • Provides a safe and fun environment in which both children and theirparents feel comfortable
  • Provides corrective action as needed
  • Spearheads the organization of each day's activities to provide children with a variety of programming
  • Responsible for completing and reporting accidents or injuries occurring in the assigned area; completing required forms for each child placed in and removed from Kid Watch
  • Responsible for the enforcement of all Kid Watch Policies, as well as, general building policies
  • Communicate with the supervisor concerning cleaning supplies and program material as needed
  • Develop positive relations with customers; communicate recreation programs information to participants and parents
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested


About You

Our ideal candidate will have:
  • One (1) year of experience in an organized childcare program
  • Knowledge and experience in instructing or teaching a variety of activities such as: sports, active games, arts and crafts, dance, drama, fitness, music, and various recreational, educational, or cultural enrichment events
  • Experience in behavior management in children ages 1 - 7 years old
  • Flexible schedule
  • Bilingual preferred
  • Current CPR/First Aid Certification

  • Education: Graduation from high school or the possession of a GED, HiSET or TASC Certificate
  • Experience: One (1) year of experience in assisting in the operation and instruction of organized recreation activities
  • Licensures/Certification(s): Requires a valid Driver's License at the time of application. Requires certification in CPR/First Aid within 6 months of hire. Licenses and certifications must be kept current as a condition of employment
  • Equivalency: Additional appropriate education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirements
