The Environmental Program Specialist ( EPS ) is a customer service-oriented position that assists with the collection of household hazardous waste from residents. This position will work within the Diversion Facilities Division at the Household Hazardous Waste collections facility. The EPS is in charge of receiving, identifying, segregating, and storing bulk/package hazardous waste from residential households per TCEQ , DOT , and EPA regulations. The class of Associate Program Specialist is distinguished from the next higher class of Program Specialist in that the former class is the entry-level class in the series and is in training, learning the full scope of the assigned duties and responsibilities. While the latter class is the journey-level class, independently performing professional-level work and having full responsibility for overseeing a particular program within a County agency/department. Incumbents in the class of Associate Program Specialist are expected to gain experience and demonstrate proficiency which qualifies them to promote to the higher level class of Program Specialist after the equivalent of one year of full-time service. The Aging and Disability Services Division (ADSD) is currently recruiting for a Social Services Program Specialist 2 in Las Vegas, Nevada. This recruitment may be used to fill current and future vacancies as they occur in the Quality Assurance Unit for Long Term Care Ombudsman Program (LTCOP). Duties include but are not limited to conducting reviews of program, resident surveys, and case files; understanding and interpreting state, local and federal policy; policy and program recommendations; revising and maintaining procedures and manuals; producing reports and developing spreadsheets; providing technical assistance to staff as needed; assisting, developing, providing and coordinating training; working with sister agencies, services recipients and providers for the betterment of the program and to maintain quality; participating in work groups and performing related duties as assigned.
