STATE AID PROGRAM COORDINATOR
Administrative Analyst Specialist Exempt I
Student Financial Aid
Salary Range: $3,897 - $7,051/Monthly
Work Schedule: Full-Time, Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; temporary one-year appointment from date of hire. May be extended, may become permanent; exempt classification.
Essential Functions: Under direct supervision of an Aid Administrator, the incumbent oversees several highly specialized State Aid Programs for the aid office. The incumbent performs all duties related to the administration in delivering state aid programs in accordance with applicable state regulations mandated by the California Student Aid Commission (CSAC). The incumbent performs in the following areas plan, lead, and direct complex activities of State aid programs requiring independent thinking and applying professional judgment, perform verification of applicant information that are of the most-complex situations for optimum solutions, perform on-going reconciliation with the following offices: Financial Aid, One-Stop Financial Services, and the California Student Aid Commission (CSAC). The incumbent is expected to stay current with the program eligibility requirements, WebGrants systems-related updates, and effectively communicates all updates/alerts to the financial aid staff regularly.
Required Qualifications & Experience: A bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university in one of the behavioral sciences, public or business administration, or a Job-related field, and three years of progressively responsible financial aid program coordination experience. The incumbent must have demonstrated working experience with student information systems, all Federal Student Aid systems such as FAA CPS Online, COD Online services, NSLDS, and FAFSA on the Web. The incumbent must have demonstrated experience with managing financial aid programs. The incumbent must have knowledge of Federal and State Financial Aid laws and regulations and of methods, procedures, practices, and activities of the program area. The incumbent must have the ability, and initiative to apply the latest concepts, PeopleSoft, customer service based technology systems, and communications strategies; learn PeopleSoft query manager, pop update processes, and CommGen tools; interpret and apply university policies, rules, and regulations regarding financial aid; reason logically; ability to collect, compile, analyze, and evaluate technical data; carry out very complex assignments limited detailed instructions; and compose and appropriately format correspondence and statistical data reports. The incumbent must demonstrate good written and verbal communication to students of and from diverse backgrounds. The incumbent must have a demonstrated interest and/or ability to work in a multicultural/multiethnic environment. A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position with the California State University. Desired Qualifications: Demonstrated working experience with PeopleSoft and in a higher education setting. Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication to students of and from diverse backgrounds. Ability to compose and appropriately format correspondence and statistical data reports. Knowledge of CSU and Cal State Los Angeles policies and procedures.
