Under general direction of the Director of New Student & Family Programs, the incumbent will provide program planning, structure, and leadership on the development, implementation, and assessment of programs and services for the New Student and Family Programs area of the Dean of Students office. New Student and Family Programs includes First-Year Student Orientation, Transfer Student Orientation, Family Orientation (English and Spanish speaking), Weeks of Welcome programs, Family Programs, Orientation Team Leadership Program, New Student Transition Support and co-curricular support of additional initiatives involving new students at CSUSM, including Residential Learning Communities. Supervises the Student Orientation Directors (Student Assistants) and the Orientation Team Leaders (volunteers). Interacts with individual students and their families, student employees, and volunteer leaders, and collaborates with university faculty, staff, and administrators. The Coordinator will have independent responsibility for handling a variety of complex and sensitive issues related to students, faculty, family members, program structure and processes, as well as emergency situations related to Orientation. This is a full time, exempt position, which will lead toward permanent status following the successful completion of a probationary period.
