Position Summary ** PER DIEM OPENINGS ** THIS POSITION MAY CLOSE WITHOUT NOTICE ONCE A SUFFICIENT NUMBER OF QUALIFIED APPLICATIONS ARE RECEIVED AND AFTER 7 DAYS POSTING PERIOD
Identifies sources of funds to pay for the patient's medical treatment. This position determines a patient's eligibility for various state, federal and/or other financial assistance programs and negotiates payment commitments by patients who do not qualify for financial assistance and who do not have insurance.Job Requirement Education/Experience:
Equivalent to high school graduation and two (2) years of experience as a community outreach worker, eligibility worker within a governmental agency or hospital setting, navigator, enrollment assister, certified application counselor or social services representative.Licensing/Certification Requirements:
None. Additional and/or Preferred Position Requirements PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Physical Requirements Knowledge of:
- Proficiency with NOMADS
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in social security referrals
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in completing presumptive eligibility applications
Federal, state, and county medical financial assistance programs; effective interviewing techniques; medical terminology; common business and collection practices; department and hospital safety practices and procedures; patient rights; infection control policies and procedures; handling, storage, use and disposal of hazardous materials; department and hospital emergency response policies and procedures.Skill in:
Performing arithmetic calculations; organizing and prioritizing work; using computers and related software applications to complete reports and other documentation; maintaining detailed case files; applying effective interviewing techniques; contributing effectively to the accomplishment of team work unit goals; communicating effectively with a wide variety of people from diverse socio-economic and ethnic backgrounds; establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with all personnel contacted in the course of duties. Efficient, effective and safe use of equipment.Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Mobility to work in a typical office setting and use standard office equipment, stamina to remain seated for long periods of time, vision to read printed materials and a VDT screen, and hearing and speech to communicate effectively in person and over the telephone. Strength and agility to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or an eligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
