Salary Range: $4,945-$8,833/month
Normal Work Days/Hours: Monday-Friday, 7:00 A.M. to 3:30 P.M.

Plans, develops, and implements new methods and procedures designed to improve operations, minimize operating costs, and effect greater utilization of labor and materials. Supervises and works in maintaining, repairing, limited construction and modification of electrical power systems. Plans, supervises and participates in the maintenance of electrical power generation and distribution systems. Troubleshoots, diagnoses and repairs electrical motors, motor controls, electrical switchers, transformers, power substations, which have voltages from 120 to 13,200 volts. Reviews job orders to determine work priorities; Schedules repairs, maintenance, and installation of machines, tools, and equipment to ensure continuous production operations. Plan budget needs for all electrical preventative maintenance, corrective maintenance, equipment, contract(s), and capital planning for large projects. Instructs skilled and semi-skilled subordinates in work methods, applications and procedures, tools and equipment use, schematic reading, electrical code compliance and work place safety. Develops preventative maintenance program in conjunction with engineering and maintenance staff. Exercises considerable independent judgement and discretion in work assignments as needed.
REQUIRES high school graduation and 6 years experience in building or water/wastewater utility construction, maintenance, repair, alteration, and cleaning work, including 3 years supervisory experience. Must possess at least one of the certifications listed within two years of moving into this job classification: Distribution System Level III (DSIII) with the State of Missouri, Wastewater Collections system level A certification, Level A operator certification in water or wastewater issued by the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, Approved third party certification maintenance operations including: HVAC, welding, plumbing, electrical, machinist, mechanic etc., and/or Meter Testing or Repair Certification. If moving from a non-safety sensitive position, must pass a pre-placement drug screen and post-offer physical examination as prescribed by the City. Preference given applicants with knowledge and experience working with voltages up to 13,000 volts, variable and adjustable frequency drives, motor control centers, transformers, breakers; pumps, valves, generators, and engines. Must be able to read and understand engineering drawings and one line diagrams and a minimum of a 24-hour HAZWOPER certification is a desirable.
