Library Services Specialist II


The Library Services Specialist II for Course Reserves and Streaming Media
oversees the library's course reserves operations; consults with faculty about course reserves materials to be placed on
reserve; provides assistance to faculty in organizing materials to be placed on reserve; and processes both paper and
electronic materials to be placed on reserve. The Library Services Specialist II for Course Reserves and Streaming
Media prepares and uploads materials to the library's streaming server and digital repository, maintains links between
learning management systems, library systems, and digital resources , inputs data to ensure access, assigns metadata, and
collects statistics on reserves and streaming media to be used for collections and systems decisions.
This position ensures that copyright and accessibility requirements, per library policy or direction, are met for all reserve
and streaming media items, maintains reserve collections, e-reserves, streaming media, and related web pages;
administers appropriate aspects of the unified library management system, streaming server, learning management
system, and digital repository; generates usage reports and makes suggestions for continuous improvements; and
communicates with teaching faculty and library colleagues on issues related to information access, copyright, intellectual
property, fair use, and accessibility.
The Library Specialist Il for Course Reserves and Streaming Media is responsible for the hiring, training, and directing
of work of student assistants to effectively utilize software and equipment in order to process course reserves and
streaming media.
The Library Services Specialist II may provide public services at the circulation desk, including nights and weekends,
serve in a cashiering role, and trained as per campus policy, by collecting fees and charging for community cards, and
works closely with all library areas on projects as needed that have library-wide impact.


The Library Services Specialist II for Course Reserves and Streaming Media
must have thorough knowledge of library policy, procedures, best practices in course reserves, learning management
system, streaming media, Alma or similar unified library management system, collection arrangement and
management, and Library of Congress call numbers. Must have the ability to work accurately with attention to detail,
use discretion in applying rules, regulations and procedures, communicate effectively, multitask, and work
cooperatively with others. Must have excellent organizational, problem solving, and analytical skills. Most importantly,
the Library Services Specialist II for Course Reserves and Streaming Media must demonstrate a commitment to
public services.

A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be
offered a position with the CSU. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the application
status of applicants or continued employment of current CSU employees who apply for the position.
The person holding this position is considered a 'mandated reporter' under the California Child Abuse and Neglect
Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 Revised July
21, 2017 as a condition of employment.

*** This position may require a weekend schedule (Tuesday - Saturday or Sunday - Thursday).

Hiring Range: $3,246 - $4,221 per month
