Agriculturists perform a variety of inspections and enforcement duties related to regulated agricultural programs such as seed testing and seed certification, commercial pest control licensing, commercial nursery inspection and licensing, vertebrate pest control, noxious weeds, insect and plant disease quarantine surveys, and commercial feed and agricultural product grading.
This is an Agriculturist 2 underfilling an Agriculturist 3 position with the Department of Agriculture, Noxious Weeds Coordinator, funded through the Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT), located in Sparks or Las Vegas. This position will review and evaluate weed mitigation plans for highway infrastructure projects that are submitted by private NDOT contractors; ensure that accepted plans are being followed by performing site visits and noxious weed survey's and create reports on the findings of those inspections, inspect NDOT material sites to ensure their utilization is appropriate, identify noxious weeds and provide recommendations on weed control to ensure NDOT is meeting noxious weed requirements listed in NRS 555, create educational material relating to noxious weed species and provide trainings for NDOT staff. Applicant must have knowledge pertaining to plant identification and plant biology and integrated pest management control practices for noxious species and be able to create and provide educational material and trainings.

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in agricultural science or related field and one year of professional experience in agricultural inspection, seed certification, research, or enforcement of regulations related to agriculture and horticulture; OR
one year of experience as an Agriculturist I in Nevada State service; OR
an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above. The Examination Application Evaluation Exam
