Position Description

Electricians perform skilled electrical work to maintain and repair electrical systems and equipment. Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.

The Nevada Department of Corrections has a vacancy for an Electrician 2 at Northern Nevada Correctional Center (NNCC), in Carson City, Nevada. This is a lead electrician-level position under general supervision. The incumbent will perform advanced level troubleshooting on commercial electrical circuits, controls, motor systems, generator equipment and fire alarms.

The incumbent will also be responsible for installing data and electrical circuits in EMT, Rigid and PVC per Electrical. The incumbent will respond to repair orders; establish priority of repairs; diagnose problems utilizing appropriate tools and test equipment; estimate cost of jobs; acquire materials to complete jobs by contacting vendors and/or completing purchase requisitions; make repairs; document time and material costs for billing purposes.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Completion of a recognized electrician apprenticeship program followed by one year of journey level electrician experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
