The Position: Under the direct supervision of the AVP for Faculty Affairs, the Director will oversee the business operations of the Office for Faculty Affairs. The Director will supervise the work of the analyst and other staff associated with faculty affairs workflow and processing. The Director will: provide oversight, management, and direction of international faculty employment; oversee, manage, and direct staff to establish and maintain faculty workload tracking systems, track additional employment, consultant pay verification, assigned time, and sabbatical processes; direct the acquisition, creation, use and/or maintenance of faculty data systems; coordinate with contracted immigration attorneys and prospective and current faculty on H1-B VISA and PERM processing completion; and ensure ongoing professional development for self and supervised staff. The Director will liaise with relevant individuals, offices, and stakeholders at Cal State LA and system wide including: the Office for Institutional Effectiveness related to Academic Planning Data Base (APDB) and faculty data and other key systems; the College Deans' Assistants related to technical work processes associated with retention, tenure, and promotion (RTP); the Director of Budget & Planning and College Resource Managers, including providing technical training for faculty data input and management as needed; and with human resources management for information, understanding, and coordination related to additional employment, leave programs, benefits, etc. for faculty. The Director will also maintain currency by participating in meetings with the CSU Faculty Affairs Directors.

Required Qualifications and Experience: Bachelor's degree from a four-year accredited college or university and five years of experience with facilitating and tracking processes related to the hiring of faculty. The incumbent will have: experience with higher education financial processes, resource and workflow planning, and database management; demonstrated an advanced use of Excel and other technical skills; exceptional attention to detail and accuracy; strong analytical and quantitative reasoning skills and abilities; demonstrated good communication, collaborative, and interpersonal skills, with an orientation to service; strong organizational skills, management abilities, and follow-up processes; experience in supervising office staff; a proven ability to plan and complete small to large scale projects; the ability to research and apply appropriate policies and procedures to work of the office; the ability to work independently and exercise sound judgement for seeking appropriate input and approvals; and have the ability to work in a multicultural/multiethnic environment. A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position with the CSU. Desired Qualifications and Experience: Strong desire for ongoing professional development, experience related to facilitating U.S work authorizations, and experience working in a collective bargaining environment.

Appointment: The Administrator II appointment will be made under the guidelines for management and supervisory employees of the California State University. All rights and benefits associated with this appointment are governed by the Management Personnel Plan.
