Job Summary

In support of the Dean and the college, the Senior Personnel Manager focuses on hiring and related processes, academic personnel faculty processes, and systems as well as staff and faculty professional development to support a high-functioning operation. The incumbent builds strong relationships with key stakeholders in the college, the university, and the community to understand and address the strategic personnel needs of the college. In collaboration with the Associate Deans and Department Chairs, the incumbent identifies, addresses, and remedies people-related issues, with a focus on continuous improvement and long-term organizational development. The incumbent is responsible for providing supervision of HR Support Administrative Service Coordinator in the Dean's office.

Key Qualifications
  • Knowledge of standard Human Resources theories, principles, practices, and techniques
  • Thorough working knowledge in implementation of diversity and inclusion initiatives
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively perform work of a highly sensitive and confidential nature which requires access to information which directly relates to collective bargaining negotiations or management strategies
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and consistently apply a wide variety of complex policies and procedures where specific guidelines may not always exist
  • Demonstrated skill coordinating several personnel functions and determining the relative importance of each; and demonstrated ability to work with a high level of productivity and accuracy/attention to detail
  • Thorough knowledge of or ability to quickly learn CSU classification standards, collective bargaining contracts, and principles of labor relations

Education and Experience

Bachelor's Degree and five years of progressively responsible experience in Human Resources or related fields, with at least three years of experience managing others

Salary commensurate with the background and experience of the individual selected.
