Job Summary
Reporting to and under general supervision of the Anthropological Studies Center (ASC) Business Director, with additional lead work direction from the ASC Director, the Archaeological Specialist, participates as an interdisciplinary team member responsible for archaeological studies. This position combines field, lab, and office duties according to the needs of ASC. Fieldwork involving inventory, evaluation, and data recovery on historic and prehistoric sites alternates with lab work and writing technical reports.
Key Qualifications
This position requires an equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in the field of Archaeology/Anthropology or related field. Two years of progressively responsible experience in technical research or statistical work in the collection, compilation, and analysis of data. Graduate study in the social sciences, economics, mathematics, statistics, public or business administration or engineering may be substituted for the required experience on a year-for-year basis. Additional experience which has demonstrated that the applicant has acquired and successfully applied the knowledges and abilities delineated above may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis. Advanced degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, CRM, or related field and two years of experience working in the CRM field is highly preferred. Thorough proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office and Google Suite is required. Excellent geographic information systems (GIS) skills preferred.
Salary and Benefits
Starting salary placement depends on qualifications and experience and is anticipated to be in the range of $3,721 to $4,475 a month. This is a full time, temporary, non-exempt position. Reappointment to this position is dependent upon the individual's performance as well as administrative and budgetary considerations. The university reserves the right to terminate this appointment earlier than the scheduled expiration date.

This position is eligible for a broad range of benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurances, retirement (CalPERS), tuition waiver, vacation and sick leave. In addition, 14 paid holidays are offered each year; 13 scheduled on specific days and a Personal Holiday that may be taken any time during the year.
