Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY: The City of Taylor is seeking candidates for the position of Assistant Director of Golf to provide a first class experience to customers at Taylor Golf Courses.

Under broad policy guidance and direction from the Director of Golf, the Assistant Director of Golf performs professional, operational, and administrative duties to ensure a profitable business model and strong customer service experience is delivered daily. The Assistant Director of Golf is directly responsible for all operations at Taylor Meadows Golf Course and Lakes of Taylor Golf Course which includes golf and restaurant/banquet services.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: (Key Tasks and Responsibilities)

  • Manage all aspects of golf operations on a day to day basis.

  • Manage direct reports: Chef, Restaurant and Banquet Manager, and Operations Managers.

  • Ensure the development, promotion and execution of golf leagues, events, golf outings, golf lessons, banquet events, restaurant events to meet financial objectives annually

  • Build and maintain an annual budget.

  • Operate the POS system with full knowledge of its capabilities to drive business and maintain excellent customer service.

  • Role model excellent customer service daily during interaction with patrons and staff.

  • Develop an inventory of goods that add value to the patron experience and improve sales performance annually. Convey the importance of driving sales to the staff.

  • Attend City Council and TIFA meetings

  • Work with the purchasing department to create bids for large purchases and facility improvements.

  • Responsible for the maintenance and appearance of the facilities.

  • Daily interaction with BrightView Golf Course Maintenance to ensure the golf course maintenance contract is being executed properly.

  • Recruit, coach and develop a golf staff that provides excellent customer satisfaction.

  • Must be able to understand and execute all golf course positions.

  • Work with the marketing team to create visual and print materials.

  • Promote the golf course through e-mail, social media and the website.

  • High school education required

  • Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent experience preferred

  • Extensive experience in the golf course business or equivalent sports/entertainment industry preferred
