The successful candidate will help the Department achieve equitable outcomes for all students through teaching, student mentorship, scholarship, and service.
A doctoral degree in epidemiology, biostatistics or a closely related public health field is required. ABDs will be considered but must have completed the terminal degree before August 23, 2022. The successful candidate will have:
a) training in epidemiologic methods and biostatistics;
b) programming skills (experience with SPSS and SAS are particularly desirable);
c) experience teaching undergraduate and graduate level biostatistics, epidemiology, and/or research methods courses,
d) a record of peer reviewed publications commensurate with experience, and
e) a desire and potential to secure external funding to support the applicant's research agenda.
Evidence of effective teaching ability and of on-going research activity and potential to secure external funding is required for tenure. Applicants must demonstrate a commitment to working with a diverse student population. This is an in-person position; however, experience with online teaching and/or instructional technology is desired. Collegiality and motivation are highly desirable characteristics of the successful candidate.
At time of appointment, the successful candidate, if not a U.S. citizen, must have authorization from the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) to work in the United States. Responsibilities:
The successful candidate:
- will teach and mentor a diverse student population in the public health program at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Specifically, they will be capable of teaching biostatistics and/or applied epidemiologic methods, at both an introductory and advanced level. Other teaching areas may be determined by program need.
- may be required to teach in person on weekdays, evenings, weekends and possibly online. The successful candidate will also participate in various committees, student advisement, review, development and assessment of the curriculum, and other program functions.
- should conduct publishable research and attempt to secure external funding to support research and scholarly activity.
- will be expected to actively participate in his or her professional societies/associations and maintain currency in the field of epidemiology and/or biostatistics.
- will be held to the standards and requirements of the college and department in which he/she/they is/are housed for recommending tenure and promotion.
