The Senior Financial Analyst will perform financial management, reporting and analysis work supporting the Department of Safety, with a primary focus on Denver Police and Sheriff Departments.
Manages and oversees the development and approval of business cases, project/contract proposals, and other resource needs.
Analyzes and validates the assumptions and assertions included in business cases, including the availability and fiscal propriety of alternative approaches.
Monitors budget spending, ensuring adequate and proper funding availability and proper expense assignment.
Create models for analyzing and forecasting spending to include identification and investigation of cost drivers.
Assists with developing strategic approaches for effective budget management and recommends the proper allocation of funding.
Manages and coordinates special projects such as streamlining business processes and functions as well as, developing and implementing policies and procedures.
Assists management and staff in understanding budget and financial reports and principles.
Plans and evaluates complex capital and asset needs for the organization, including understanding and participating in associated processes, analyzing opportunities for funding capital needs and forecasting financial impacts on the department's long-term strategy.
Prepares complex financial reports, forecasts, and analyses. Investigates financial discrepancies and items of interest.
Prepares, justifies, and/or administers the budget for assigned program areas.
Tracks and coordinates the position management functions of one or more Safety agencies including the development and management of staffing models.
Ensure compliance and maintains fiscal accountability with regard to rules, regulations, standards, policies and procedures.
Works with stakeholders internal and external to the City, providing information, assistance and guidance related to fiscal policy, best practices, and internal business processes.
Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.About You
Three years of professional level experience researching, analyzing, calculating, and compiling financial data or financial statistical analysis. Demonstrated understanding of statistical analysis including the use of software applications designed for analysis and presentation of data (i.e. JMP, PowerBI). Experience working with relational databases.About Everything Else
