Maricopa became Arizona’s 88th City when it was incorporated in October of 2003. Since then, hyper-growth transformed the City from less than 5,000 residents into a bustling population of over 48,000. Maricopa is approximately 43 square miles, with a planning area of 233 square miles.
Historically an agricultural community, Maricopa’s business base has translated those ties into the aggrotech, renewable energy and research and development fields.
The average household income in Maricopa is $75,000; this is among the highest in the state of Arizona and approximately 88% of adult residents have some post-high school education, and 47% hold a bachelor’s degree or graduate degree.
