Description ZUMBA GOLD FITNESS INSTRUCTOR (CASUAL RECREATION INSTRUCTOR 6)
1 - 3 HOURS/WEEK Note: Casual non-benefited employees are limited to working no more than 900 hours in a fiscal year (July 1-June 30).
Under general supervision of the Senior Center Community Service Coordinator II, the recreation instructor will lead a one-hour Zumba Gold class for adults 50 years and older.
Essential Job Functions
(May include, but are not limited to the following)
- Teach fitness class by leading and demonstrating moves and routines.
- Maintain a safe, friendly and inclusive class environment for all participants.
- Adjust class as appropriate and needed to meet the various fitness levels of class participants.
- Responsible for bringing music to each class.
- Change routines and music to keep class interesting for regular participants.
- Maintain documentation of drop-in and class waiver signatures
Position requires regular sitting, standing, walking, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, squatting and stooping in the performance of activities. The position also requires grasping, repetitive hand movement and fine coordination. Additionally, the position requires near and far vision in reading reports and work-related documents and using a computer. Acute hearing is required when providing personal customer service. The need to lift, drag and push, pull objects weighing up to 10 pounds is also required. Some of these requirements may be accommodated for otherwise qualified individuals requiring and requesting such accommodation.
Licenses and Certificates
- Current Zumba Gold fitness certification
- Current Group Fitness Certification
- Minimum five years experience providing fitness classes
- Current CPR & First Aid certification
- Experience working with older adults
Possession and continued maintenance of a valid class C California driver's license and a safe driving record, or the ability to provide alternate transportation which is approved by the appointing authority.DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
- Bilingual in English & Spanish
