Full-time position available with KC Water Facilities and Plants Division located at 4800 E. 63rd Street.
Salary Range: $4,945-$8,833/month
Normal Work Days/Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M.

This position oversees capital improvement projects at treatment plants, pump stations, and other water/wastewater facilities. Responsible for coordinating and implementing engineering business processes by: Planning and assigning specific projects or areas of work to professional and technical subordinates; assisting with resource needs and assignment of engineers within engineering division to meet project demands and provide diversity of assignments and project experience. Manages the technical aspects of the engineering Facilities unit by: reviewing and approving RFQ/P scopes of work, engineering fee submittals, completed plans, specifications, drawings and estimates; reviewing vouchers and supporting field data for partial payments for work completed; approves payment per contractual requirements; prepares specifications for materials and products; performs necessary research for satisfactory substitutes; investigates material failures; inspecting construction work in progress for compliance with plans and specifications; approves and authorizes changes as necessary; interprets plans and specifications for inspectors and contractors. Defines business and financial process by: controlling expenditures within limitations of project budget; adhering to and assisting preparation of annual budget; overseeing the development and maintenance of a schedule for Facility CIP projects. Responsible for defining the communication plan for Facilities Engineering projects by: preparing interim and completion project status reports; interfacing with customers to provide project status reports and ensure customer needs are met; providing status and progress reports to customer, project team, and management. Directly supervises 7-10 employees. Works closely with the Facilities Division Manager. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
REQUIRES 4 years of progressively responsible experience as a Registered Engineer. Within 6 months of hire date, must be registered as a Professional Engineer with the Missouri Board for Architects, Professional Engineers, Professional Land Surveyors, and Professional Landscape Architects. Preference given to applicants with a Bachelor's degree in Civil, Mechanical, Chemical or Electrical Engineering and 4 years of project management experience in water, wastewater, or stormwater.
