Position Overview

The City of Henderson is excited to announce an examination to create an eligibility list and to fill one (1) vacancy for the classification of Unified Communications Engineer I in the Department of Information Technology. This is an open continuous recruitment and testing of applicants will occur on an ongoing basis. The Eligibility List may be utilized to fill vacancies for this classification for up to (1) year.
Under general supervision, installs, configures, operates and maintains unified communication environments, software and related infrastructure; and performs related duties as assigned.

A successful candidate will possess experience with the following:
  • Installing, supporting, operating, managing, and troubleshooting unified communication systems and associated management software and networks
  • Performing voice and data network fault investigations in local and wide area networks
  • Coordinating and implementing structure cabling

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in information technology, computer science, or a closely-related field
  • Two (2) years of experience in unified communications, unified voice and unified communications access systems
  • Note: An equivalent combination of related training and experience may be considered
  • Must pass a nationwide fingerprint-based record check, and a wants/warrants check
  • Must complete Security Awareness and National Crime Information Center (NCIC)/Nevada Criminal Justice Information System (NCJIS) certification within six months of hire/transfer and be recertified every two years. Must maintain certifications in NCIC/NCJIS as a condition of continued employment
  • Must obtain and maintain one certification within one of the following core service areas as aligned with job duties and identified by the department within one (1) year from the date of appointment as a condition of continued employment:
    • Voice over IP (VoIP) Services
    • Voice over IP (VoIP) Emergency Responder Services
    • Voice Mail Services
    • Automated Call Distribution (ACD) Services
    • Call Center Services
    • Video Conferencing Services
    • Communications Distribution Design Services
