The County of Sonoma Department of Health Services (DHS) seeks licensed professionals to fill multiple full-time, part-time, and extra-help Behavioral Health Clinician
positions on the Mobile Support Team as well as in other behavioral health programs. Note: These positions may also be filled by Behavioral Health Clinician Interns, for which there is a separate, concurrent recruitment intended for individuals who are registered with the Board of Behavioral Sciences but who are not yet licensed.
Behavioral Health Clinicians provide recovery-oriented behavioral health interventions to adults, families, children, and youth. These services include individual and group counseling, case management, crisis intervention, outreach, and other related duties. Assignments include adult outpatient programs, intake teams, teams focused on a specific geographic region, youth and family outpatient programs, community based teams, the Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU), the Mobile Support Team, forensic programs, or Hospital Liaison & Utilization Review. The Department is currently hiring for positions within the Mobile Support Team, Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU), Juvenile Hall, Valley of the Moon Children's Home, and Adult Team.

About the Mobile Support Team (MST)
- An annual Staff Development/Wellness Benefit allowance up to $850 and ongoing education/training opportunities

The County of Sonoma's MST provides mobile crisis response services alongside law enforcement in order to assist law enforcement and community members in finding appropriate solutions to mental health crisis situations.
Behavioral Health Clinicians assigned to the MST program provide crisis response support to adults, families, children, and youth. Team members also provide referral and linkage to community treatment and support resources, and consult with law enforcement, individuals, families, community members, and service providers on effective crisis response.
The Behavioral Health Clinicians respond to requests for MST services by: responding to calls in the field; conducting clinical and risk assessments of individuals; gathering collateral information, as available; making informed clinical decisions about the best response; connecting clients to needed resources and services; writing involuntary holds, if needed; partnering with law enforcement and other community members in providing excellent services to clients; maintaining accurate and timely clinical documentation of services; and providing follow-up support to clients as directed by the Behavioral Health Clinical Specialist and/or Health Program Manager.
Positions assigned to the Mobile Support Team conduct a significant portion of duties in the field, and work closely with law enforcement. Services are provided primarily out of satellite offices throughout the County. About the Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU)
The CSU's dedicated team of licensed mental health clinicians, psychiatric nurses, and psychiatrists provide crisis intervention, medication assessment, stabilization, and information and referral services 24-hours a day, 7 days a week for adults, children, and families experiencing a mental health crisis. The CSU provides up to 23-hours of supportive care, including medications for individuals in an acute mental health crisis. For those needing a higher level of care, voluntary crisis residential services or inpatient hospitalization are arranged.

: Effective January 1, 2017, Licensed Professional Clinical Counselors (LPCCs) must obtain written confirmation from the Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) stating that they meet the requirements to assess and treat couples and families prior to assessing or treating a couple or family client. Extra-help employees relieve or augment permanent staff. Temporary, extra-help employees are not in the classified civil service and do not have property rights to permanently allocated positions. In addition, they do not receive most employee benefits such as: long-term disability insurance coverage; accrual of vacation; participation in the County retirement program; or eligibility to take promotional examinations. Temporary, extra-help employees are limited in their employment to a maximum of one calendar year. These employees must be off of work for three months before they can be re-employed on an extra help basis.
Extra-help employees who meet the eligibility requirements may qualify for a County contribution toward medical coverage.

Any combination of education, training, and experience which would likely provide the knowledge and abilities listed herein. Normally, this would include a Master's Degree or higher in social work, counseling, psychology, or a related field from an accredited college or university; some post-license experience in Behavioral Health is desirable.Special Requirement:
