OSDH is seeking a full time Senior Accessibility Specialist providing support to the Community Development Department. This is an unclassified position in state government (PIN# 34004151) in Oklahoma City, OK. Position Description:
This employee will serve as the point of contact for projects in the Interpretation and Translation Services (ITS) program in the Office of Minority Health and Health Equity located in the Community Development Services Department. Employee will provide oversight of interpreter and translation services to Limited English Proficiency (LEP) clients as mandated by Title VI. Services are provided within OSDH Central Office as well as county health departments with LEP clients. This position is in charge of completing all steps in the process of managing interpretation or translation services offered to internal and external clients.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
•Coordinate help ensure OSDH services are accessible with standards and usable by clients who need LEP interpretation, translation, or sign language services.
•Monitoring existing programs and systems for issues in access to all services throughout the county health departments and central office.
•Coordinate with internal and external partners to identify systemic access problems and correct them.
•Review of digital media for accessibility, to include voice synthetization, color contrast, keyboard focus, and other accessibility requirements Conducts activities to spot check access throughout the system.
•Monitor existing programs for access to assistive services, conduct on-site surveys, and assist with the development of new programs.
•Will work to assure compliance with the OSDH standards, best practice requirements, and other applicable governing/codified standards in managing access for delivery of care.
•Sensitivity to, and knowledge of, inter-lingual/multicultural issues.
•Ability to multi-task, organize, prioritize and problem-solve simultaneous and consecutive projects.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of interpretation service role, ethics, skills, advocacy allowed in public health, business and community settings. Understanding of web accessibility laws, like ADA, Section 508, as well as industry specific guideline for IT systems.
Knowledge of desktop, mobile, and responsive web design. Willingness to learn new tools to help work effectively.
Knowledge of cultural competency skills to incorporate strategies for interacting with people from diverse backgrounds.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
Work is typically performed in an office setting with a climate-controlled settings and exposure to moderate noise level. While performing the duties of the job, employee is required to talk, stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. This position requires long period of sitting and daily use of computer and phone.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's in Counseling, Higher Education, Social Work or related field and two years of relevant experience. Working knowledge of Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) of 1990 as amended, and Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0.
