Position Description

The Division of Child and Family Services (DCFS) is recruiting is for a Clinical Social Worker 2 in Las Vegas, Nevada. This position floats between the Early Childhood Mental Health Services Unit which provides clinical and targeted case management services to children from birth to age eight and their families with mental health and/or behavioral health issues and the Children's Clinical Services Unit, providing the same services to children ages six to 18.

Incumbent is responsible for performing evaluations and assessments to include diagnosis and severe emotional disturbance determinations through interviews with youth and families and the review of medical records including social, developmental, and medical history; determining strengths, presenting problems, resources, and eligibility for applicable programs and services; and identify appropriate interventions.

This selected candidate will provide individual, family, and group therapy or intervention sessions with youth by applying a variety of therapeutic techniques, to include crisis intervention and risk assessment, in order to effect change in youth behavior; determine the duration and appropriate method of therapy or intervention; establish priorities to manage problems; identify and implement changes in the treatment process as determined by youth and families; develop and implement discharge and aftercare plans; provide information to youth and families regarding available resources to achieve treatment goals and facilitate youth return to the least restrictive environment possible; and act as an advocate through interactions with external agencies and organizations such as the courts, welfare, school, juvenile justice, parole and probation, and related social service agencies and community organizations.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Licensure as a Clinical Social Worker by the Board of Examiners for Social Workers.
