Incumbents perform in a trainee capacity and acquire the knowledge, skills and abilities required in this occupation. OR Incumbents perform basic tasks or elements of the job not requiring the additional knowledge, skills and abilities to perform at the next level in the series. Conservation Aids assist professional staff in a variety of projects involving the conservation and preservation of the State's natural resources.
These two seasonal 3 month positions will visit, inspect, and repair guzzlers under supervision. With over 1200 water developments in northern Nevada, there is a need to hire two seasonal employees to help with guzzler inspection and maintenance items to assist the fulltime employees of the Water Development crew. Two seasonal employees will provide added capacity to help us address the water development maintenance backlog. As such, increased water development maintenance will ensure wildlife have access to water in these arid environments thereby maximizing wildlife productivity. Graduation from high school or equivalent education and six months of experience assisting in resource conservation projects or wildlife management projects; OR completion of 15 college credits in wildlife management, biology, or closely related field; OR six months of experience as a Conservation Aid I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
Ability to work effectively in adverse weather conditions, remote geographical areas and in all types of wilderness terrain.
