Licensed Professional Engineers provide professional services involving the application of engineering principles and data, or activities in connection with public or private utilities, structures, buildings, machines, equipment or projects impacting the public welfare or the safeguarding of life, health or property.
This position is located within the Materials Division in Carson City. Incumbent will perform geotechnical analysis and provide design/construction recommendations for foundations supporting all types of transportation facilities including bridges, buildings, and retaining walls; conduct field explorations and inspections; conduct seismic surveys; perform stability analysis for rock and soil cut slopes, rock falls, and landslides; provide design/construction recommendations for revetments, subsurface trench drains, and roadway subgrade support; and perform stability and settlement analysis for embankments. This position prepares geotechnical reports and design memoranda; reviews construction project plans, specifications, and cost estimates; manages outside consultants' geotechnical work; attends meetings; conducts construction inspections; provides technical assistance during construction projects; and provides support in disputing contractors' claims.

Registration as a Professional Engineer is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.

- The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience.
