Clinical Social Workers provide clinical services to clients/inmates in a residential, home, inpatient, outpatient, rehabilitation, correctional or similar setting.
This Clinical Social Worker 1 is located with Northern Nevada Adult Mental Health Services (NNAMHS) at Dini-Townsend Hospital in Sparks, Nevada. This recruitment may be used to underfill a Clinical Social Worker 2 position. Progression to the next level in the series may occur after meeting the minimum qualifications, satisfactory performance, and with endorsement of the appointing authority.
Designated shift is Monday through Friday, but incumbents may share the responsibility of covering weekends and holidays. Incumbents require a working knowledge of theories and principles of individual and group psychotherapy; familiarity with symptoms, characteristics, and treatment of mental illness, substance abuse, emotional and behavioral disorders; knowledge of crisis intervention techniques, case management practices and procedures, psycho-diagnostic techniques, and laws governing abuse and neglect.
Responsibilities will include assessing, developing, and implementing individualized treatment plans and goals; writing comprehensive evaluations, reports, and recommendations; conducting risk assessments, and demonstrating competency within the civil court process; actively participating on an interdisciplinary treatment team; and coordinating community services for patients while assuming the ultimate responsibility for discharge planning.
Clinical Social Workers must demonstrate strong writing skills, be effective communicators, exercise the highest of ethical standards, practice effective time management, and demonstrate multi-tasking capability and flexibility. With emphasis on the recovery model, patient care is delivered through an interdisciplinary team approach with teamwork being a must.

Master's degree from an accredited college or university in social work and an internship approved by the Board of Examiners for Social Workers.
A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for fingerprinting.
A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
