The Los Angeles County Department of Health Services (DHS) is the second largest municipal health system in the nation. DHS operates as an integrated health system, operating 26 health centers and four acute care hospitals, in addition to providing health care to youth in the juvenile justice system and inmates in the LA County jails. Across the network of DHS' directly operated clinical sites and through partnerships with community-based clinics, DHS cares for about 800,000 unique patients each year, employs over 22,000 staff, and has an annual operating budget of 5 billion.

Maintains, modifies, and calibrates equipment used in surgical and pre- and postoperative procedures; sets and monitors electronic equipment during surgical procedures.
Essential Job Functions
Performs Electrical Safety Inspections on all devices in order to avoid safety issues.
Completes forms and uses electronic database for record-keeping in order to maintain appropriate documentation of work.
Responds to emergency calls in order to troubleshoot malfunctions of equipment; check for faulty connections or short circuits; investigate and eliminate electrical interference from nearby electronic equipment; and install substitute equipment if unable to correct problem.
Maintains and troubleshoots Patient Data Networks.
Inspects, on a regularly scheduled basis, medical and non-medical equipment in order to determine preventative maintenance and repair.
Disassembles equipment; replaces worn or defective parts; cleans, lubricates and reassembles equipment and tests functional operation; calibrates equipment using test equipment in order to maintain equipment functioning appropriately.
Troubleshoots and repairs TVs and security camera systems.
Requirements MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
One year of experience as a medical or laboratory technician involving the operation and maintenance of cardiopulmonary, respiratory, electronic and electromechanical monitoring equipment. LICENSE:
A valid California Class C Driver License or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions.
Physical Class III - Moderate :
Includes standing or walking most of the time, with bending, stooping, squatting, twisting, and reaching; includes working on irregular surfaces, occasionally lifting objects weighting over 25 pounds, and frequent lifting of 10-25 pounds. Desirable Qualifications:

- An Associate's degree* from an accredited college in electronics -or- completion of a training program in electronics from an accredited trade school. An approved training program including but not limited to agencies such as Los Angeles Trade-Technical College.
- Certification* as a Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician (CBET) by the Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI).

Additional Information EXAMINATION CONTENT:
This examination will consist of an evaluation of experience and desirable qualifications, based on application information weighted at 100%.
Candidates must achieve a passing score of 70% or higher on this examination in order to be placed on the eligible register. ELIGIBILITY INFORMATION:
Applications will be processed on an "as-received" basis and those receiving a passing score will be promulgated to the eligible register accordingly.
The names of candidates receiving a passing score in the examination will be added to the eligible register in the order of their score group for a period of twelve (12) months following the date of promulgation.
NO PERSON MAY COMPETE IN THIS EXAMINATION MORE THAN ONCE EVERY TWELVE (12) MONTHS.
Appointees may be required to work any shift including evenings, nights, weekends and holidays.
