Special Districts Joshua Tree Park and Recreation is recruiting for an Extra-Help Teacher Aide who will be responsible for assisting with the planning and implementation of the daily operations of a preschool. Duties include ensuring the safety and well-being of children, assisting with learning experiences, interacting with parents, and assuming the duties of the lead teacher as needed to cover absences. This position will work in County Service Area (CSA) 20 in Joshua Tree.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Availability: Must be available to work in Joshua Tree, California.
Certificate: Must successfully complete Pediatric First Aid and CPR within six (6) months of hire.
Schedule: This is an extra-help, non-regular position classified as a Public Service Employee. This position typically works 16 to 29.5 hours per week. The childcare facilities are open from 7:30 am-12:00 pm (noon ).
Experience: Six (6) months of full-time equivalent experience at a childcare center, preschool, school, or recreation setting where the main function of the job was interaction and instruction of children.
Education: Six (6) semester (9 quarter) units of completed college coursework in early childhood education, physical education, recreation, human services, social welfare or other related field of study. A legible copy of transcripts (unofficial are accepted) or coursework must be included .
NOTE: Qualifying degrees or coursework must be completed at a college or university accredited by any accrediting association recognized by the United States Department of Education. Degrees or coursework completed outside the U.S. must be accompanied with an evaluation report from a reputable credential evaluation service showing equivalency to degrees or coursework completed at a college or university accredited by any accrediting association recognized by the United States Department of Education.
Applicants with a certificate in early childhood education, a current Pediatric First Aide, and/or CPR certificates are desirable.
