Arrowhead Regional Medical Center (ARMC) is recruiting for Sterile Processing Technicians II who will function as lead workers in the Sterile Processing Department. Sterile Processing Technician II duties include but are not limited to decontamination, sterilization, inspecting, testing, packing and issuing medical supplies, equipment and instruments. Lead functions include creating work schedules, approving leave time, providing input on work performance evaluations and assisting with disciplinary actions.

Background: Applicants selected for these positions must pass a background investigation which includes fingerprinting and verification of employment history.

Schedule: Incumbents may be required to work various shifts, holidays, and weekends depending on the department's needs.

Physical: Physical agility requirements include good vision and color discrimination; fine hand manipulation and finger dexterity in both hands; working and/or reaching above and below shoulder level; using either foot to operate foot controls; ability to move up to 50 lbs. manually or with assistance.

Environment: Work environment involves exposure to electricity, chemicals, infectious materials, heat, and odors.

Minimum Requirements

EXPERIENCE: Two (2) years of experience as a Sterile Processing Technician, within the last five (5) years, in an acute care hospital operating sterilizing equipment and cleaning surgical instruments and equipment.

CERTIFICATION: Must possess certification as a Central Service Technician/Sterile Processing Technician from one of the following: The International Association of Health Care Services Material Management (IAHCSMM) OR the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) OR National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) OR American Surgical Technician Association (ASA).

Note: Please attach proof of a Central Service Technician/Sterile Processing Technician certification to your application.

Desired Qualifications

Experience as a lead worker is desirable.
