Description: Job Summary
This full-time advisor is part of a team led by the Director of the CAED Advising Center, and Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, along with the support of student assistants. With primary focus on student advising, including success of students from underrepresented groups and transfer students through programming to support their sense of belonging and engagement in the CAED, this advisor will also work on pro-active data-informed advising strategies of the college including retention data and graduation rates, equity gaps, and other strategic measures of student success. The CAED Advising Center supports all 2000 students in the college on academic advising, progress to degree, and connections to other student support services across campus. The center prides itself on its Open Door Policy being accessible to students through drop-in hours in an open encouraging atmosphere. Key Qualifications
Education and Experience
- Demonstrated customer service experience requiring a very high level of diplomacy and professionalism to effectively handle a broad range of high level and sensitive interpersonal situations with diverse personalities, and to respond appropriately to conflicts and problems.
- Ability to initiate, establish, and foster communication and teamwork by maintaining a positive, cooperative, productive work atmosphere in and outside the University with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships within a diverse population and with those from various cultural backgrounds.
- Excellent communication skills; ability to effectively communicate information in a clear and understandable manner, both verbally and in writing, including one-on-one and in group settings, with a thorough knowledge of English grammar, spelling and punctuation.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to set own priorities to coordinate multiple assignments with fluctuating and time-sensitive deadlines.
Bachelor's degree and two years of professional experience in one of the student services program areas or in a related field; OR a Master's degree and one year of experience.
Additional specialized experience during which the applicant has acquired and successfully applied the required knowledge and abilities may be substituted for the required education on a year for year basis. Salary:
Anticipated Hiring Range: $51,648 - $55,200 annually
